Today was Mother's Day and I was officially pampered. Phil, Pip and Viv woke up and headed out to the store for breakfast supplies and then made me a smoothie, eggs, bacon, homefries, and toast to order. I didn't get to sleep in too much because Meg woke up, but when I did get up I saw a Happy Mother's Day card from Pip taped to my bedroom door. Very sweet!
I got to pick my activity for the day and I choose to go for a little hike. We went to Maudslay State Park in Newburyport and I downloaded a Geocaching app for my Droid. It was lots of fun looking for the Treasure and the hike was easy enough for the kids. The "treasure" was nearly not found as Pip, Meg, and I had to leave Daddy and Viv by the trail and go off into the woods at the very end. We ducked under branches and over trees passing it and then coming back to find it hidden under a large pokey downed tree.
We took a tatoo and a My Little Pony and left a matchbox car and Ben & Jerry's gift certificate. We can't wait to find more treasures!
Perhaps the favorite part for Pip and Viv was throwing rocks and sticks into the river we crossed. I think they could spend HOURS chucking rocks into water and not tire. It was getting a bit chilly and I didn't want to press our luck with Meg so I suggested a game of ambush for the walk home. We all took turns counting while one or more would run ahead and hide. Then as the straggler innocently continued along the trail, an ambush would be waiting. Here Pip and Viv are about to scare me!
Phil also found this sign ... not altered by me in any way! Too funny!
There was this cool tree on the way out at the top of a hill. Cool pics.
To top off my day I got a nap and Chinese take out. All in all a wonderful day!
