Found a few creatures this week, just in time for Pip's Organisms unit at school. Tom Turtle was a huge hit. Found him trying to get up on the sidewalk from Sandborn Lane. He loved to walk and didn't seem to afraid of the kids (or at least was having a good flight response, which seems to them like he was having fun!)
He was a bit nervous in the car and peed all over Viv's car seat (luckily she wasn't in it yet). We forgave that and invited him to stay for dinner. Afterwards we took him back home. Pip: muted and then full blown tears. Vivian: Well, I loved Tom too but he's a turtle and he wants to go home so I'm not sad about it! Meggie: TAHTLE!!!!
Gave me an opportunity to talk to Pip about how it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I am sure we will revisit this theme again, only not for a turtle.
Oh, and Jerry was the spider. Pip said it was a poisonous white-spotted jumping spider. I am not so sure about the poisonous part. I hope not because Megan ripped through the saran wrap cover and he got out.
