A friend and co-worker had a baby girl just 3 days after I had Megan. So we're hitting all the major milestones together. Her baby is a little girl named Mahi and we joined her for her first birthday party!
There were more fabulous Indian food than you can imagine. Phil and I were in heaven.
Pip and Vivie were quite skeptical at first ... not recognizing anyone they knew and also due to the lack of bouncey houses when we walked in. Then they saw Nick, a familiar face and slowly began to warm up with some tentative games of hide and seek. All that shyness hit the road when this guy walked in. These kids simply can not resist the ultimate awesomeness of a balloon guy.
AND he painted faces!!
AND he turned into Elmo!!
Meg LOVED Elmo and a couple of days later she found a DVD cover with Elmo on it and nearly exploded with excitement! "Da! DA! DAAA!" she ran screaming with the cover to Phil!!
Vivie and Nick were not at all amused by this Elmo. First of all, he was MUCH to big. Second of all, he didn't talk. These two are no rubes. They stood as far away as possible and watched him warily.
Finally, I had to come clean and explain to Vivie that it was the balloon guy. She considered this seriously then simply nodded, like ... I knew it.
Meg had her first birthday cake! She was about to fade ... needing a nap at the time, but the sugar gave her a second wind. She went absolutely and completely wild, running all over the place and shaking her arms up and down in delight!
