Topsfield Fair

Today Mom's Group took a brave field trip to the Topsfield Fair. After running, no out-right sprinting, away from me at Filene's Basement this weekend, Pip practiced the rules at home before we left. 1. Listen to Mommy. 2. Stay with Mommy. 3. No running. We did actually practice. It was funny. Pip wandered or ran through the house and then I'd ask him if I could see him. He'd yell No! and come running back. Sounds corny but it worked. He was a golden child (as golden as a spirited 3 year old can possibly be) all day. So thankfully we beat the odds and did not have to yank ourselves out early in a tantrumy mess.

There was LOTS to see and do at the fair. Even at the meeting area where we waited for our friends there was an orchestra playing polkas and fun dances. Pip and Vivie clapped and bopped along to the beat.

Soon enough we found a huge model train track with at least 3 trains running on it. Pip loved it so much we had to come back later before we could go home.

Seemed like everywhere we turned there was action. To the kid's delight (and my utter amazement) this guy literally dove from at least 40 feet into the area into a little pool below (MUST have been dug into the ground otherwise I am not sure how he lived). As Liz said while we watched ... this is gonna give them ideas. Aye, aye, aye.

There were lots of animals to pet. I loves the cows. They were so beautiful. Really. I think they are the best.

We also pet some sheep.

What would a trip to the Topsfield Fair be without a visit to the Championship pumpkin!!
Even this "little" one impressed Pip!
Then it was over to the chicken coop where we watched at least 3 chicks hatch out of their eggs. Fun until Pip and his buds decided to bang on the Plexiglas (again, as golden as a 3 year old can be). Moving along!

Vivie also got to hang with her feathered friends. They were actually quite colorful with amazing patterns. We were thrilled to get some full-on cock-a-doodle-doos!
