Crane Beach

This weekend we took a rather impromptu trip to Crane Beach Sunday morning. The weather was outstanding even if the water was frigid. We grabbed a few essential items, packed up the car and bolted.

It was so fun. Pip and Viv LOVE to play in the sand. And Vivian learned since Ft. Lauderdale that sand is not to be eaten. She toddled all over the place checking out the scene. She was happy the entire time except when her little toes touched the water. She's not about 40 degree water AT ALL.

Vivian and Pip got lots of fabulous gifts. One in particular that's getting a lot of play is the music set. Contrary to popular myth, Phil and I don't mind the loud toys as our kids really enjoy them. Vivian got her hands on the cymbals first and immediately started banging them together like a pro. Pip saw this and exclaimed "Wow! Vivian knows how to do it!" He was well impressed.

Pip is also enamored with the Bats in the Library book. Everyone should have a librarian in the family.

Naptime procrastination

Naptimes have become difficult lately with Pip preferring to look out his window and yell hello at anyone walking by instead. Here I attempt a last ditch negotiation before naptime ... which turns into a vocab lesson. This clip also features lots of fun "why's" which are now part of every conversation.

Incidentally, despite promising not to look out the window, he did. For a long time. Then he sang and banged his books. I took away the books .. didn't help. Finally I threatened that he'd have to stay inside all afternoon if he didn't go to sleep. That worked.

Guess what? I had a hard day.

We've trained Pip to have a Pavlovian response to anyone saying "I had a hard day". He'll walk right over and give out a hug. Here he reverses it on me. "Guess what Mommy. I had a hard day." Too cute.

Guitar Hero

Sharing hobbies

Turns out Vivian loves a nice game of sofa surfing as much as Pip. She also enjoys playing pillow pile, a regular favorite. Literally everytime they walk into the living room, Pip pulls the cushions off my sofa and they begin climbing and tunneling. Here Pip stopped for a quick kiss (upon request by Mommy)

Pip feeds Vivian

I thought I had posted this before but apparently I hadn't. Phil took this video of Pip feeding Vivian. It's cool on it's own, even cooler when you know that Vivian refuses to allow Phil or I to feed her. She swats the spoon away for us. She LOVES it when Pip does it. She loves all things Pip.
