Irony

Some kids came over after school so I pawned off the last of some cupcakes left over from Memorial Day.  Meg couldn't resist one either.  But there is something so ironic about these pics of her all a mess, wielding a broom.

Viv around the house

Hugging Franks and buckling her shoe!

Strolling with Meg

Meg loves to push her stroller around.  She's pretty determined with it.  To the point you would not want to get in front of her.  She'll run you right over.  And the stuffed animal riders need some seat belts or one of em's gonna get seriously injured soon.

Water balloons

Pip's been dying for water balloons.  We found a stash a few days ago and used them up so I went out and got some more.  Vivie and I filled about 40 of them in a tub before getting Pip from school.  He was all fired up and mentioned it to anyone and everyone he saw.  We ended up with Danielle, Bridget, Connor, Grace, and Catherine joining us for some fun.

The balloons, as expected, lasted about 10 seconds.  Pip later filled some of his own (and had a breakout in the night).

Meanwhile, Meg sported the sun lotion mohawk.

Who you messin with??

The kids tried to look tough, but were all very happy.

Vivie and Bridge got dressed up and made smiley faces with the snacks.

Connor drenched himself.

And the girls tried to paint the whole fence in rainbow stripes (didn't get very far).

Pip's smiley snack!

Memorial Day Party!

This yer we hosted a Memorial Day party that included some cupcakes so we could celebrate Pip and Viv's birthdays with our closer friends.  I got the cupcake ideas from a book Katie gave me.  Before bed, Pip will often request "reading" the book and he and Vivie will look through and tell me which they want for their birthday.  The selection often changes, but the monsters are always a top pick of Pip's.

And Vivie loves the microphones.

Before the party, Meg enjoys some watermelon.

Vivie makes sure the water station is up to snuff.

I thought the yard looked great.  We has a bubble tub and chalk area too!

Bubbler in effect!

Pip chasing some bubbles.

Daniel with the horn!

Pirate fight!

It was a lot of nagging to break these out!  Finally, after waiting for ever for Bridget (who was at the beach part of the day) we went on without her!

It was a very hot day.  We had the A/C on inside and the kids made great use of the loft.  I found LOTS of food there the next day!

Pip is 6!!!!

We celebrated Pip's 6th birthday with his Kindergarten class at Jay Gee's fun center.  It was a beautiful day and nearly everyone was able to come.  I felt like a had an adrenaline IV attached and am wondering if this is perpetually what it feels like to be 6.

Marathon Day

May 19th ... we did it all.  Started with Tball at 8am.

Then hot-tub removal!

Then Vivie's first recital!  Vivie was not at all nervous for her bug debut.  We got all dressed up in her costume and took a quick family photo before heading over to the Galvin middle school.  I dropped her off in the gym, waiting a bit for some of her friends to arrive.  As I dropped her in the gym and returned to find our seats, she wasn't nervous at all.  There were lots of great dancers all the way through seniors in high school and we were impressed by all the numbers.  Finally after about 45 minutes it was Vivie's turn.  Pip was very excited to see his sister on stage!!  Megan was just excited to squirm out of my arms ... note to self, 13 month olds don't like sitting still for 2 hours.  Vivie did great dancing to Lynn Andersen's Rocky Top.  She remembered her moves, even if there was a bit of confusion sometimes on the line.  When she was done, Pip and I screamed at the top of our lungs for her!  Our video did not turn out so great, but below is the video from her dress rehearsal!

Then Pips tried ice skates for the first time at JJ's birthday party.  He was impressive.  It was hard, but rather than give up, he accepted that falling would be a part of it.  We got gloves at the pro shop and he used the crates at first.  Soon he wanted no part of them, other than to break his falls.  He made huge progress by the end and wants to try again!!  Go Pip.  Very proud of him!

Then, finally, it was off to Rob's 40th birthday party.  Managed to be the last one's standing, but boy were we tired!!
